Repoopulate: Synthetic poop to treat GI problems

Here is an interesting article about the work of some Canadian doctors whom I met at the Human Microbiome Conference in Bethesda, MD in July. Basically bacterial cultures are used from people who are healthy and creates a more standardized mixture than just getting stool from a donor on any given day. Advantages include safety, since pathogens would never be introduced to the mixture to begin with and the ability to exclude bacteria which may not be as helpful or that could potentially cause problems.
